A01 – SHIRTS WITH ALTIȚĂ

Everything you need to understand right away. We explore a little to discover the spirit of the place and meet the women who invented these masterpieces. We rummaged so deep in museum deposits, in villages and fairs, that we managed to find things that are not even in books.

I’ll explain it to you together with Gabriela, as I also learned, in stages. So:

Inscribed by UNESCO, it is the most popular type of traditional shirt, one with which we quickly identify. More recently we started to call it “ie”. But it has so much variety, that the hardest thing will be to choose just one model. You will end up with an endless wishlist. There are designs that are casual, for workdays, office, urban, bridal or for other special occasions, all based on this cutting pattern.

Arch. Ioana Corduneanu, an experienced designer, launched Semne Cusute in 2012 to present traditional shirts from a current perspective.

Gabriela creates, passionate about sustainability and how clothing can express our identity, has been with Semne Cusute since the beginning.
